Guernsey’s location in the English Channel, off the coast of Normandy, means that transport links to and from the UK and Europe could not be easier.

Regular, reliable air links mean that you can spend your working day in London and still be home in time to enjoy an evening on the beach in Guernsey.

Travel by air

Guernsey has regular flights to major UK airports. Flights from London Gatwick take as little as 30 minutes and the island’s two main operators are Aurigny and Blue Islands.

Travel by sea

Fast ferries from Poole to Guernsey take around three hours and a slower, all-weather, overnight ferry connects the island with Portsmouth. Travelling to and from France can take as little as two hours and inter-island crossings to Jersey take just one hour.

Visas

The Bailiwick is English speaking and you don’t need a passport to travel here if you are travelling from the UK or Republic of Ireland, but you will require some form of photographic identification.

If you are arriving from outside the UK or Republic of Ireland, you must have a valid passport or travel document, irrespective of your nationality. European Economic Area and Swiss nationals may use their national identity cards.

Non-British /European Economic Area nationals travelling to the Channel Islands from outside the UK or Republic of Ireland, should check whether they require a visa. Visas must be obtained prior to travel from a British Consulate or British High Commission in your usual country of residence.
