Swoffers are delighted to announce that they will be supporting the Guernsey Cricket Board’s Tots Cricket programme.
As part of their historic connection with the GCB, getting involved at grass roots level was an opportunity too good to be missed.
‘The coaching for these youngsters is inspired and the enthusiasm and energy that each and every child has for the sport is so great to see,’ said Swoffers Director Andy Biggins. ‘We are delighted to get involved in what, for all of them, is their first taste of the game.
‘It is so evident just how much they love taking part, numbers are rising week on week and they are clearly being looked after perfectly by the Guernsey Cricket Board. It is a privilege to offer our support and another chance for us to support the community.’
The hugely successful initiative continues to evolve under the watchful eyes of Colette Gooding and Dave Hooper and offers Guernsey’s youngsters their first foray into organised coaching.
The emphasis is on fun and group participation (with a helping hand from parents!) but the programme clearly offers youngsters the first step on a structured path to becoming the next established players of the local game.
‘Tots Cricket is an inclusive programme and open to all, we provide coaching for 2.5 to 6 years with the main emphasis on having fun,’ said Colette Gooding, Cricket Participation Officer. ‘Tots Cricket has grown from strength to strength in the last year and we are delighted to have the support of Swoffers to allow us to develop the programme and provide opportunities for as many young cricketers as possible.’
The current Tot’s programme includes 10 sessions indoor ahead of the summer, including an Easter coaching course, a three-week summer cricket programme, 16 weeks of summer sessions, 10 school Tot’s Roadshows in nurseries and schools across the island and a Tot’s cricket Family Funday.
