We’re thrilled to announce that Carl and Lindsay Stanford are the winners of our recent landlord competition! Landlords who let their property through us were automatically entered into a prize draw to win £2,025. We spoke with Carl and Lindsay to hear their reaction to winning and to find out more about their experience as landlords.
How did it feel when you found out you’d won the £2,025 prize?
“Very surprised as we had forgotten we had been entered.”
Could you tell us a little about yourselves and how you first became landlords?
“We purchased our first flat in 2025 and appointed Swoffers to lease it and manage it.”
What made you decide to rent your property through Swoffers?
“Swoffers were the managers for the communal area of the flats and so it made sense to also use Swoffers for management and leasing.”
What’s been the most rewarding part of being landlords?
“The income is helping pay towards university fees and it’s nice to know we have something we can eventually pass on to our children.”
And what’s been the biggest challenge?
“Renovating the flats and getting them into a suitable condition to rent while working was challenging. As there is a shortage of flats for rent available, we had numerous applications. Swoffers did a great job filtering these down to select good tenants.”
Do you have any plans for how you might spend the prize money?
“The prize money was useful to help offset some of the cost of renovating the flats.”
Would you recommend Swoffers to other landlords thinking about renting out their property?
“Yes. Swoffers have provided a professional but friendly service. They also have a number of people working in the letting and management teams, meaning they were able to provide continuity of service even when people were away.”
What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a landlord for the first time?
“Letting and managing a rental property takes a lot of time. Getting this done professionally not only saves you time but ensures that the correct procedures and safeguards are put in place.”
